Hi folks!
I'm sure you've all had the experience I had LONG AGO... but anyway, I've been very interested in the harp for about a year now (on and off) play-wise, but the entire time I haven't spent a day without listening to one of the greats.
I moved to the middle-east during that time and so live blues music was out of the question.
I recently moved to Toronto and I had my first live blues music experience at "The Silver Dollar" featuring Carlos Del Junco!!! he was AMAZING. It was a surreal experience. I closed my eyed and then opened them and all I could think was "wow, they're making the music right there on the stage!" I am so in love with this stuff. I am now making it a mission to see all the blues joints around here so that I can choose a few to frequent.
Do you remember your first time hearing live blues/harmonica music?
PS. My memory is not so good when I'm just browsing and not paying attention... but I recall Chris (Michalek) making a post about how someone (Howard Levy?) had taught him to play what the audience wants and not what he wants. I thought of that while listening to Carlos because he was very "In Sync" with the audience. He felt their mood and gave them a show accordingly. Great show!
