i have a kustom 12A which is a tube hybrid amp and a fender 15R solid state Im on a tight budget so im limited to buying equipment.I have tried 2 different ways to run them together.i can hook them up with a y cable into my guitar distortion peddal turned off and run my green bullet into the peddal.Or i can run my green bullet mic directly into the kustom tube hybrid then run a guitar cord from the line out into the fender 15R.when i run it that way i still get both amps to work but the Kustom now acts like a tube preamp to the fender. This setup gives me a better tone more depth and more tube like tone on both amps. But im afraid of hurting the fender with the kustom preamping into it.Is it safe to run it that way.I was at 1st but got scared and went with the other way i exsplained using a y cable into my peddle. It sounds allright but not as good as the other way.thanks

help please I have to ask another question to get this back up on the charts.Im wondering if running my kustom 12a into the fender as a preamp can overload the fender amp and cause damage it has a better sound that way but it also sounds like it might be pushing it to hard.

The line out is just a signal line and will not overload the 2nd amp, it may not even be using the pre amp signal to the 2nd amp. The cheaper way for Amp makers to do line out is before the pre amp. Kustom is not known for being a very top end amp and I'm willing to bet it is a before pre amp signal. In any way it won't hurt the 2nd amp except to possibly degradate the signal That effect could possibly "warm" or give the impression of warmth to the 2nd amp if the Kustom has a particularly harsh tube overdrive.
Don't ever send a powered signal into an amp.

thank you. so im best just splitting the 2 with a y cable then taking a chance? It had a warmer tone but if i hit certain notes it would allmost make a clipping sound sort of.It dosent do that if i spit it with a y cable but the sound aint as punchy

The line out signal would be about 5 to 10 times the voltage of your mic signal. This would more than likely clip the first stage of the Fender regardless of your volume setting on that amp.

I like to run my pedal into a DI box linked to the PA and into my amp. That way, the sound guy can mic my harp amp and mix it with a cleaner tone from the PA itself and put delay on it or whatever he thinks sounds good. We are blessed with good sound guys here who use the "less is more" philosophy on effects in the PA. Two channels for harp, two percussion channels and one vocal mic..sound guys really love me...they actually do, since I provide the mics and cables and DI box. They just pick out channels and plug me in, since i set it all up.
