I saw Rick Estrin and the Nightcats last night. Great show! Awesome harp playing by Rick and mind blowing Guitar by his new guy Kid Anderson. This was the first time I've gone to see a pro harp player live, and it was great! Rick played alot of Sonny Boy stuff, even gave us a solo jam on the 364 as an encore. Rhythm was super tight and his solos included alot of stuff I've never heard before, but alot that I had too. Also, it was his Birthday.
Happy Birthday!

Rick is the ultimate "entertainer". He really knows how to work a crowd. Great player with great material. Can't lose! I've had the pleasure of getting to know Kid Andersen and play with him - he really is phenomenal. He can play ANYTHING, any style. Nice guy, and funny too. He is also a great bass player. He normally plays right handed, but I once saw someone hand him a left handed guitar - he played it as if he had been playing it all his life. ---------- /Greg

Yeah, Kid was amazing. Honestly the best guitar player I've ever seen, live or recorded.

I've never seen Kid Anderson live, but from what I've seen of his Y.T. vids he sounds pretty awesome. He has some pretty big shoes to fill. Charlie Baty is one of the most phenomenal guitar players I've ever seen.

I heard the Kid when he was with Charlie Musselwhite and phenomenal. Then I ran into him at the Little Fox and just chatted for a bit between songs. Super nice guy.
Rick Estrin also many times. Funny guy, but you have to listen close.

Glad to hear he has a killer guitar player. I saw the same thing with Jason Ricci's band. The guitar player's ability to work with the harp player took things to another level or two.
We're looking forward to Rick's show and harp workshop here in Dallas on Saturday.
How much chromatic vs. diatonic did he play?

He played two tunes on chromatic, one on a 364, the rest on a diatonic 10 hole.
