Hi all,
Curious to see if someone can tell me how to wire my JT 30. It has the MC 101 crystal element with a black wire and a red wire. The red wire is connected to the screw on connector and the black wire has broken off of where it should be. Does the black wire belong on the screw on connector too or does it belong somewhere else? If I have to connect it to the screw on connector at the mic base, how do I get the connector out of the base of the mic. Any and all help is much appreciated.

The black is the earth and I think should connect to a lug somewhere on the shell. Be very careful when you solder, make sure the soldering iron is as hot as it needs to be and then make the contact with the wire as brief as possible. If that element is still working, you want to keep it that way! The heat of soldering can fry the crystal if the heat travels through the wire. You could clip an alligator clip with a long lead soldered on onto the black lead as a heat sink - that might offer another little bit of protection.
