When I play in Memphis I need an amplifier and the HG50 is not a possibility. I MIGHT find one locally but I was wondering if anyone was in that area with a decent amp. Thanks guys!

The IBC's provide the backline. They also provide guitar amps, which all guitarists have to use. The harp players are free to bring their own amps. I can't remember the amp sponsor, but they were at all the venues last year. Line6,maybe? Not sure if a stock amp will work, unless you have a AFB+.You might really have to tweak it and there are time constraints you'd have to deal with.

if its line6 then you will have all sorts of problems, in my experience, they are not harmonica amps. When in doubt go thro' the pa I guess

get someone to lend you a Harp Commander and go through the PA: no hassles, only good clean fun.

A number of suggestions come to mind.
1. Ask the organisers what backline amps are provided. If there is a Bassman or Super Reverb, use that. Then just take some pre amp tubes with you, so that you can quickly lower the amps gain if needed.
2. Take a small amp and mic it up.
3. Use an effects box of some sort (Harp Attack, Harp Commander, etc)
4. Play straight into the PA a la James Cotton.

Now, PA would be cool for the slow blues stuff but we're too electric for that. I'll probably take a tiny amp.

I'd say a HarpAttack, but you'll wanna make sure to get in a little woodshed time with it thru a p.a. or other solid-state amplification, such as a keyboard amp, to get the settings where you want them. ---------- Crescent City Harmonica Club www.myspace.com/harpboytodd www.myspace.com/crescentcityharmonicaclub www.myspace.com/am540
