Yes you can. Brad Harrison does, I know that.

I have, but only once. Lip Blocking works just fine for me though, so I haven't pursued learning to do it TBd.

Yes you can indeed.
I play tongue blocked overblows.

The best way to learn I found was following Jason Ricci's YouTube video on how to overblow.
Although Jason plays them using the lipping method, the technique is the same.

Me too, something about it feels more organic. I know there are pros who tongue block overblows. I havent gotten to the point where I can overblow TB or LP but I assume its the same as doing bends, pay attention to what all your muscles are doing when your lip pursing. Its about air control, not tongue position.

Ryan, when you tongue block, a lot of times tongue position correlates or even equates to air control.

At this point I only tongue block. Working on doing over blows and overdraws. I can consistantly OB on the six hole on my D and E, kind of on the 5, 4 is more tricky. Have a hard time hearing overdraws a lot of the time (and that is really the key...you have to know what the note sounds like in order to really play it). I U-block though, do you TB out the side or front of your mouth? Kudzurunners video on overblowing is what really helped me. When you try OBing, do you get a really awful "in-between" sound? If you do your on the right track, just give it time. Concentrate on really trying to pop the reed up and focus the "bend point" (where you feel the pressure change in your mouth) more towards (BUT NOT AT!!!) the tip of your tongue. Hope this helps, sounded as I was saying it about as clear as mud.

Since you all got me interested in trying again, is a 6 over blow in the key of A an A? If so I can do it easier tongue blocked on this (crappily self modded a few months ago harp that I wouldn't take to a jam cause it's all mucked up (exaggeration)) golden melody I got.

Yes, you can do OBs and ODs with TB. I dont do the ODs too well but I do everything else TBing. Yes, its difficult but not not as bad as it sounds.

Ryan,

Wait a minute...playing in the key of A or harmonica in the key of A? If you are playing on an A harp (second position Key of E) you are just hitting the 6 hole but harder. A 6 OB on an A harp would be a G (minor thrid above E which is your first scale degree in second position). If you are playing in the key of A on a D harp a 6 OB would be a C (minor third above A). The 6 blow starts the third octave, when you OB you play a minor third above the note you regularly would be playing if you were just blowing.

I got charts telling me what the normal blow, draw, and bend notes on every key harp should be but nothing on what notes the over blows on 4, 5, & 6 on every harp should be.

So, if a 6 blow on an A harp is an E and the over blow is a G does that mean all over blows are 3 steps up the chromatic scale from the blow note?
