I just bought this amp slightly used (Jason Ricci used it at a gig two nights ago) from HarpGear.com for a great price. He still has a slightly used HP50 410 also. Just give Brian a call. Now I have to wait a week for the amp to get here but in the mean time I have to start selling my two Bassman amps!

Well I have a 1997 59 Bassman that I lacquered and installed a bias control. It has those great Eminence Blue AlNiCo speakers. It also comes with a D2F padded cover.

The other one is a 2005 LTD which also comes with a D2F padded cover.

Both amps are in great shape, 9.5 out of 10. I have them on craigslist for $800 each.

I'm seriously considering just keeping the '97 Bassman RI that I lacquered and installed a bias pot on. I always like having a backup amp in case the primary is in the shop when I have a gig. But the 2005 Bassman LTD I will still sell so contact me in a few months if you still want it. I'll update this thread if it sells prior to you getting it together. If you want I can sell it with the tube setup for harp and the bright channel treble bypass cap removed so you can crank both channels to the same volume without feedback issues.

I recently had an HG50 1210 shipped over to the UK. Jason's right - it is an amazing sounding amp. I wonder if my neighbours agree...

Hey Cisco! Can't wait for you to play it. It is the one the new sound samples by Jason were done on last week. It is pretty sweet. I appreciate the support Kingley and J! Hope everything is good in NashVegas :)

Got this amp two days ago and man does it blow away my Bassman! In the house I could only turn it up to 2 and it was freakin loud - but great Chicago tone and you have to try really really hard to get it to feedback at all. I may swap out the two 30 Watt 5881's for two 23 watt Tung Sol 5881's and rebias appropriately to get a wider swing on the volume control and tame the amp down from 50 watts to about 40 watts and the Tung Sol's break up much earlier than the stock Russian 5881's. The construction and component layout is superb and I'm very picking about circuitry layout and design.

I was originally considering a Sonny Jr Cruncher but the 35 watt limit sort of bothered me. After talking to both Sonny Jr and Brian Purdy at length on the phone about their amp designs and getting a feel for who I felt more comfortable with it, the HP50 1210 was an easy choice and I'm very glad I got it.

Now you know exactly why all of us with HarpGear amps, whether it's a Rock Bottom, HG2, Double Trouble, HG35, HG50 1210 or a HG50 410 rave about them! :-)

Brian Purdy is just such a great guy to deal with as well.

I agree with Zack. I can't say enough about the HG50. The tone is incredible on this amp. It breathes with you. I encourage all harp players who are serious about improving their marketability to call Brian and order one of his amps. If you own the chops HarpGear amps will bring you to a higher level of playing.

Less than a week ago I received my slightly used HG35- A deal that came though Brian. I had played one at an open mic blues jam, a few months ago. It was the amp that was #1 on my list and a fellow there happened to have one and he let me play a few riffs through it. That was all it took. Tone and clarity are excellent. I will post a review in a month or two after I get some more time on it. Brian is a great guy to deal with. I have called and spoken to him on a few occasions.

I have used it at one gig, and my guitar player really liked the tone, and it was nice o have an amp I could actually carry instead of having to use a cart! On the weekend I played it for my wife, playing along with a few recordings, including Juke which she has heard me play at least 50 times. She could tell the difference...

That doesn't say much on its own merit, but you need to understand that the musical part of her brain was traded in long ago for a larger lobe that enhances tolerance for her obsessive husband. Her musical sense reminds me of the General Ulysses S. Grant quote: "I know two songs; one is Yankee Doodle, and the other isn't."

I chose the HG35 because of its power (35 watts.. DUH!), it was the most affordable of his amps with 'full' tone controls, it has two 10" speakers, and its light weight (a relatively light 34 pounds).

Now I am selling my Genz Benz Black Pearl BP30-112 to pay for it. Great guitar amp- harmonica, not so much.

Although I don't get to play in public often, I always get compliments on the looks and tone of my HG35.

Put me down as another satisfied customer.

By the way, Brian has mics from time-to-time as well. I bought a JT30 from him with along with my amp so I could have a mic/amp set that went together well from the get-go.
