Hi Everyone!
Well, another newbee to the forum.
I live in the land down under, and feel very much at home musically when I'm listening to Blues music.
Australia has a number of talented Harp players (Chris Wilson, Mick Conway to name a couple), and there is something about the sound of the Harmonica when played by a skilful musician that makes the hairs on the back of the neck stand up.
So, I'm a beginner that has had many false starts over the past 10 years in trying to learn how to play.
I've just started again and did a learners class about a month ago. Also, found Adam's site and purchase all the beginner stuff, and I'm slowly, slowly working my way through it.
I have no problems understanding the theory behind the music, but doing it is another story.
I have been going through Adam's 12 bar blues, and I find my wife is far better at picking the change than I am. Lynne will be standing in the Kitchen while there is music playing (not Adam's lesson) in the background, and she will call out 5, 2 3 4 - 6, 2 3 4 etc, did you hear the change.
My reply, no, not really. So, I have labelled myself as musically challenged! This is going to be a long and slow journey.
So, hello everyone.

Hi,

You will hear those changes in time. As with spoken language and its cadences, it's just a question of familiarity, for example:

"The pot calling the kettle ....."

"Sauce for the goose .. ..... ... ... ......"

Greetings from Iowa...God what am I doing here again? Oh yea, "school." Just give it time and ask lots of questions and you'll get the hang of it.

Welcome from just north of Seattle. If you get out your telescope you can see me waving at you across the Pacific. Don't worry about the notion of your talent. I'm in the same boat as you when I think of myself. The one thing I know is that the few gains in skill I have made have been the product of focused and organized practice on a regular basis.

Welcome from Upstate New York. We're as big jerks as the Downstate New Yorkers but we're spread out enough so it's not as annoying.
