Alright, here is a very doable project I just finished today: DIY footdrums from some spare parts and an old tambourine!
Here's the "how to" vid:
And here's how it sounds:
I'm still learnign how to coordinate the foot action while playing, so please forgive all the mistakes! Also, the digital camera I'm using doesn't pick up the drums very well, but they ARE loud enough to hear over the amp. I recorded some of the same audio to my computer using an external mic, and it picked the drums up fine... ---------- ------------------ The magnificent YouTube channel of the internet user known as "isaacullah"
Hey Isaac, I like your "shadetree" approach. Like you, I collect mic elements...then combine them in packages that work ( or don't ).
I just completed a telephone handset mic w/ volume pot. VERY growly and Big Walter harp friendly. XLR out. Looks pro...not made up from castoffs, though it is!
thats pretty cool ill have to try making some like yours,I messed around welding a old foot air pump to a weight lifting plate and had a rattle on it .it worked but was ugly and very hard to peddal, wore you out in 1 song LOL .your very creative i would like to try your idea.thanks
Neat, as Hanibal Smith would say, I love it when a plan comes together. Especially for a few bucks.
I was checking out Adam's over in Gulfport. Ended up with the Yamaha DD600 I think it is for about the same money as his kick drum, $165. It has two pedals, Hi Hat and Kick drum as well as 8 assignable pads, built in songs and when ran through our PA it really kicks. It has built in speakers as well.
Thanks guys! I'm glad you're diggin' it! X-harp: that's f-ing hilarious! That's exactly what my wife keeps telling me! I'm still having trouble finding a jamming partner, so I suppose I'm sort of turning into a one-man-band by default!
Hey Xharp - would he have to walk like Rizzo Ratso in "Midnight cowboy" to get that shuffle beat going?? Isaac has probably never heard of that movie. ---------- If it ain't got harp - it ain't really blues!!!!
