I spent about 10 or so hours a piece trying my hand at customizing my Huangs from watching the videos on utube Thanks for the info guys,Exspecially Dave of Elkriver harmonicas.I finallly tried Embossing after watching it a few times Its a time staking process,I sanded my comb flatter, and tuned in Equal temp.Back to specks.gapped her, opened the backs and now they play so much nicer, smoother and tighter,it was still just a little loose on the 1st 4 notes, but 5 on up are very responsive and fast.compared to how they did play.I like messing with them ,My question is do all harps start out Equal tuned then if you want a Just 7 tuning are they tuned from the Equal tuning and where might i get the specs to the tunings thanks

Harps are tuned in a number of ways--I think Huang's are tuned equal--but I wouldn't know for sure. To tune like a Marine Band--check out this article--there is no quick, easy answer here--it is quite a big subject, and a search or two on Google will reveal more answers than you will want to read. . .

Generally they're stamped out as close as possible to the desired pitch and then fine tuned in the final process. You can tell if it didn't start out that way if you see a lot of filing marks on the reeds, especially if there are more than 3 or 4 for the entire harmonica. If most of the reeds have those marks, it's likely it started out at a completely different tuning that the final tuning to be shipped out.

On www.harmonicaspace.com, I have posted a list of several different tunings for diatonic harmonicas there.

It sounds like you have the Bac Pac model and those ususally came tuned to 19 Limit Just Intonation. BTW, did you also seal the comb as well?

OK, when you say sanded the comb, that ususally means a wood comb as that is what's on the Bac Pac model, wheras the rest of the Huang line is ABS plastic.

When the Star Performer, Bac Pac, and Silvertone Deluxe models first came out, they were tuned to 19 Limit Just Intonation, and these were the first production line harps to use that tuning.
