My music store pal gave me a good deal on a NOS Shure Uni III for a 545 or a PE54, but it's just the element. I thought I may be able to switch it into one of my other handheld shells, but no go. I would imagine finding an empty casing would be even harder than finding an element...unless someone had a dead one. The diameter is 1&1/8 inches, with a threading diameter of 1&1/16 inches.
Would anyone here know of something suitable that it would fit into that could work?
This was in the original box with the Shure papers saying Evanston, IL; but the label on the unit says assembled in Mexico. The paper says 1985, so I'm thinking that this may still have been up to standards. My friend said to test it and if i don't like it, he'll refund with no problem.
Thanks

I make a barrel to fit it - the Ultimate. You need a transformer to make it work. I have those too. If you prefer I may have some scrap 545 barrels too.... Check out http://www.blowsmeaway.com/ultimate.html

Thanks Greg ( & Kingley ). I have a musician buddie/git tech, that says he has a dead 545 in his morgue of mic corpses...and he says will give me the shell. He's always been reliable, and I throw plenty biz his way...so I'll see if he comes though. If not, I know where to go.
