Done't know if any of Ya'll have tried one of these.
I got one in the key of C and ran thru a few songs with my Guitar player, we are working up an acoustic set for the two of us. The harp played very nicely in 2nd position and I didn't have any trouble making the converson when we played country styled songs. I could still throw in a few blues licks but it isn't intended for that. Having the 5 draw tuned 1/2 step higher helps with making smooth runs up and down the scales.I may get a few more keys to use on other songs.

These can be used in many different ways. You can use these in a Jazz situation because Jazz uses tons of Major 7ths even in a blues. You can also play 2nd position more like it's 1st position with this tuning. You can use 3rd position in the middle octave as a true major chord, and if you're playing more of a jump/swing sound, it becomes a handy alternative, and you can also play a fair amount of Latin music with it or Latin influenced tunes like La Bamba, Twist & Shout, Good Lovin' with this tuning as well.

Before these became a stock tuning, some of us like myself, who had the knowledge about retuning harps would just simply take a stok instrument and retune 5 draw 1/2 step sharp and we actually called them Major 7th harps, which should be kind of obvious why.

When I was playing in a gospel group 10 years ago I re-tuned all 12 keys to "major 7th" but changed them back when I got more into blues as I was not good at hitting the 5 draw bent.

Now I play gospel solo and the "sour" 5 draw gives it a bluesy feel. I've been invited to play gospel on Tuesdays with a band and/or guitarist so I may have to rethink things.

Thanks' for the replys. Yeah I already thought of retuning some of my spairs to the major 7th tuning as Bob reifured to it. Nice to know of the other uses also. I know how to play my harps but the technical aspects to explain why it works and exactley what I'm doing done't come near as easy.

Unfortunately, Huang discontinued that model a good 2-3 years ago.

It was tuned to equal tuning and also had 9 draw also tuned 1/2 step sharp as well, which made it somewhat less flexible, plus sales were very poor.

I like the sound of a good blue grass style harp, maybe this will give me that sound. Also Ive seen Todd Parott's videos on youtube(Joe Spiers review) and he claims tuning the 7 draw down a 1/2 step gives a more natural blues sound. something else to try

1) I once was told to get a country tuned harp and play 3rd position, as advised above. Still haveen't tried yet, but I'm glad to see it explained. I understand the flat 5 draw making a major chord in 3rd position.

2) I am also intresred in that flat 7 draw. The main problem in my 2 octave blues run is the missing minor or bent 3rd tone in the second octave. a flatened 7 draw would give me that note. And before you ask,no, I cannot overblow the 6 to get it.....
