I'd say it's Heinz 57 varieties, really.

It has elements of Reggae, Klezmer, Beatbox, jazz, blues.

Yeah, Andrew's right. Fusion is the word I'd use. Preceed it with anything you can hear in the mix. It sounds like a Reggae / Irish folk / Blues fusion. 'Eclectic' is a word that's often used for that kind of thing.

wow thats was pretty cool.I only heard multi harmonicas jamming a couple times and havent really been impressed. But that was very musical. The rythem mixed with the melody really went well together. It flowed .allmost got carried away with in the middle but before it fell it drifted back then that beatbox at the end finished it off great

That's the thing Hobo, the gaps or pockets between sounds is what jamming is all about.

The first video, has a World Beat basis. (Do a search on SoundClick or your favorite original artist web site)

Which has Reggae/contra origination.

All the other influences, the different artist backgrounds, blues, folk, jazz seem to put a really cool twist into it.

Cool video Jon, I enjoyed it - I could not make much of an attempt at labelling the musical style though, although Andrew's post seems about right.

sopwith, you are without a doubt my least favourite poster on this forum, and it's not close. Random spurts of negativity and arrogance interspersed with incoherent, crack-addled pseudo-intellectual musings. At least I'm able to make a good attempt at labelling your posting style...

Sopwith I've got to agree with oliver , I haven't posted much on this forum, but I've read several of your posts. You seem to be using this forum to show how smart you think you are, to look down on the people here and the things they say, and to make snyde comments. Oh and lets not forget your constant need to remind us all that you're a professional jazz sax player. I've read some of your older posts and if I'm remebering right it didn't start out that way, it just seems your posts have been becoming increasingly more negative.
I apologise for making this negative off topic post, but I think sopwith could have a lot to offer here but he doen't seem interested in doing that lately. I'm not saying he must agree with everybody, or only make happy feelgood posts. But the snyde comments that add nothing to the conversation are of no use to anyone but yourself. BTW, I don't know if english is your first language, but if it is, I have to agree with others in saying some of your posts are unintelligible due to a total lack of attention to grammar.

Ryan:If you don't like my opinion fine cool by me .
Ha ha quite funny really.(19 posts and your attacking me)

So youv'e graduated in the F...... English language good for you.It reminds me of the race thing when folk start
going on about things like this.

. Ok I was invited onto this forum by the site owner
Kudzurunner, not you, however to please you and the others
I will go else where and leave you to get on with it.

I feel I have contributed quite a lot one way and another to this site. It seems again a total lack of understanding. With a post like that from this character Ryan: I just can't be bothered with it.

Kudzurunner:Many thanks for letting me be part of your site
I'll move on now but I have the utmost respect for you your music and what your doing to keep blues alive.
Hopefully we will cross paths some time and make some music.

If your in Europe Kudzurunner may be able to fix some gigs, ill keep in touch.

"I feel I have contributed quite a lot one way and another to this site. It seems again a total lack of understanding."

I certainly don't deny that, in fact I even said in my post you had a lot to offer. This has nothing to do with me not liking your opinion. But many of your recent posts are simply snyde remarks. Many of your posts are essentially you implying something along the lines of "HA HA What an idiot you are! You don't understand anything". This post for example, someone was asking a question and when someone else tried to give an answer you mockingly laughed at them. You could of simply said that you didn't think there was a need to put a label on the music in question, or whatever your opinion is.
I never said you should stop posting here, in fact I hope you stay because I use to enjoy reading your posts, but if you choose to leave over this that's okay.
I admit my post was rather negative, although no more so than some of your posts, but from now on I will gladly try to avoid such confrontations.
btw- Perhaps my comment about grammar was a bit rude (since I obviously make several grammatical errors as well), but I meant it as a suggestion so that we can understand what it is your trying to say(which has been difficult at times).

I pretty much agree with Ryan about the general tone of sop's recent posts. I obviously didn't bother to reply to his little snigger at me. There's no point.

Having said that, I don't really like the thought of anyone barring themselves from here - unless they're really shitty - and that includes sopwith.

I've made posts that I later thought were a bit daft or questionable, generally when I've been a bit overly-refreshed.

I'm no saint, I say stupid or badly thought out things, and I think that sopwith does as well. I just ignore some people on here when they're behaving like that, as I expect others have me.

Kind thoughts, harp peeps.

The ultimate harp jam is a great video and showcases the harp when it is played by some of the best players around and who all have their individual styles and music tastes. It all blends in. It's simply very good music.

I think that a lot of good music is put into categories often to just appeal to a wider audience.

Haha! "overly-refreshed"! I LOVE that! I'm so stealing that term!

Anyway, back to the original topic... I think that the type or genre of music that the SPAh jam would be fit into if it were a track for sale up on I-tunes or a cd at the record store would be either Worldbeat or NeoJazz, and possibly Indie Pop. Do I agree with that? Not %100, and prob not even %50, but that's the issue of typology. If you are going to categorize things, then you GOT to pick a category. It ain't really Reggae, and it ain't really Jazz. It's not really Pop. Worldbeat is a category that is basically made to fit all the stuff that borrows equally from more than one musical tradition so that it defies categoriazation. Whatever you would call it, I'd definitely call it awesome.

Yeah, Isaac, I got that term from a posh ex, and it completely cracked me up. Still makes me laugh, nearly 10 years down the line.
