I received my shiny new Budha harp (D) a while ago but I was unable to get my lesson in with Chris until last night (my fault, busy schedule, life happens).

First, the lesson was excellent. Chris is very flexible in his schedule and I was finally able to clear some time last night. We went for about 45 minutes and we'll be hooking up again soon. Being fairly new and rough around the edges I wasn't sure what I wanted to work on so Chris had me play something. He critiqued it (very professionally and caring :) ) and then had me play some single notes. After some of this analyzing we decided I needed to work on my tone (who doesn't) and my control of my bends. He gave me some pointers and I quickly could hear a difference in my tone. I'll need to work on it and get used to playing a little differently but it is definitely an improvement. After playing a 4 hole draw for a few seconds Chris was able to tell me what I was doing wrong and how to fix it. More importantly to me was that he was able to nail the problem and explain it to me in words that I could understand. He really is a great teacher.

After about 35 minutes we decided that I had enough to work on so I'm going off to practice and then schedule the second part of the lesson.

As for the harp, well, there's no comparison to anything out of the box. The tone is huge, it's responsiveness is out of this world. Since I've had it (a few months) I find myself picking up my new D more than any other harp in my case. I also think that by playing it I have improved my playing on my other harps as well. I'm embedding a pic of my harp in this message. I'm not sure how it will show up (it may be too large). If it looks good I'll put up a few more. I'll also try to record a quick video for you all to hear it.

-Jay

Thanks Jay!

My harps are specifically designed for the ultimate sports lover. Now your team can win every championship as long as you are playing my exclusive NFL series harmonica while watching the big game.

Todd, purple is for Viking lovers so if you want to doom the Saint's chances, I would be happy to send you a Brett Favre signature series combs for all of your harps. If you're more of a basher and pounder on the harp then I recommend the Adrian Peterson Signature series harp.

If you like extra thick combs then the Pat Williams harp is for you.

However, if you just want a harp that purely kicks ass in every situation then you might want to consider the Jared Allen model. It's temperamental but the results and power of this harp are out of this world.

haha!My preference of purple is NOT Viking-related...if it was even football-rleated, it would be LSU purple. I just like the color, that's all, hence my purple KJL amp(www.kjlamps.com - I'm the only goof on the endorsee page holding a harp).

I'll need a fast, accurate and precise harp that handles well under extreme pressure:The Drew Brees harp. And it will have a black and gold comb with a fleur de lis on one side and a number 9 on the other...Hey, we may be onto something!

While you're at it, make me another harp that costs much more than it's actually worth that delivers about 75% of the time, but is capable of bedding Hollywood starlets...call it the Reggie Bush model.

That is a beautiful looking harmonica Buddha, congratulations. I love the sound of the marine band but the playability is handicapped compared to the special 20. Does the Buddha harp play like a Special 20 but sound like a marine band? I think that is what I need.

The buddha harp plays unlike anything you've ever played before.

I can do what I do with any model harp though the best results come from the Marine Band.

I can affirm that all the cons of an MB as far as the plates on the front and how rough they can be are NOT an issue on the Buddha Harps They move from note to note like liquid and are as comfortable playing as any harp out there

@Bluzdude: Screw boston, its ALL about the Hawks! Red and Black man haha...

Here come the hawks, the mighty Black Hawks
Take the attack, Yeah, and we'll back you Blackhawks
You're flying high now, so let's wrap it up
Let's go you Hawks, move off
Now all look out, Here Come the Hawks
(Here Come the Hawks) Here Come the Hawks (Here Come the Hawks) Here Come the Hawks

Here they come moving', weavin', flyin' high and throwin' spray,
Blades flashin', sticks crashin', tryin' for the play
And the Blackhawks, take control.
There's a shot, and a goal!

Here Come the Hawks, the Mighty Blackhawks
Take the Attack, Yeah, and we'll back you Blakchawks
You're flying high now, so let's wrap it up
Let's go you Hawks, move off
Now all look out, Here Come the Hawks
(Here Come the Hawks) Here Come the Hawks (Here Come the Hawks) Here Come the Hawks!

Yes, kind of pathetic that I know all the words and took the time to type it all out but my Black Hawks are worth it!

And Buddha, your work looks as splendid as ever. One day I'm gonna purchase some. The only problem is money and I play too hard, I don't want to destroy a thing of such beauty haha.

when i get mine, i probably wont play it out cause i get a bit buzzed on the beer and swept up in the audience, and could blow a bit to hard for those lovingly sculpted reeds.

@Buddha

I can see the advantage of shifting the fixing bolts from the centre line to the front, but is there a tonal advantage in only having two fixing bolts as opposed to four (two front, two back). Is it about the vibration of the coverplates? or is it just a matter of keeping it simple?

it's about even pressure on the plates and comb. If the plates and comb are totally flat you don't need much to hold it together. I know when things are flat when I can hold the plates on the comb with my fingers and it's still an awesome harp.

Getting it to that point takes a lot of work though.

@Wally and Bluzdude...Screw both of your birds! I'll take a Bear (and a beer!) any time. Go B's!

By the way, the Bruins had the BEST theme music, ELP's "Nut Rocker". No stupid high school level fight songs!
