I found this "lyrics sheet" lying around the house. Written by my daughter, age 8.
(Unedited including spelling errors because I keeps it real!)

Rich Women
She just a rich women
She trying to be witch my man
With her pretty little charm and her skinny little arms
She thinks its going to work no no nooo
But she think its going to work yeah yeah yeahhh
With her pretty little charms and her skinny little arms
Yeah yeahhh no no noooo

Why do you like her so much then me he he heee
Whats wrong with me
Why do you like her because she is just a rich women
Rich rich women looking for love
Rich women rich women rich rich
Looking for love but why do you just pack away and leave me
I don't want to cryyyy.

Now that's pretty deep in the blues for an 8 year old. I guess I've been listening to too much blues with the kids in the car. At least she didn't say she was going to cut her down!

That's too funny, but it's also pretty good!

Terrific for an eight YO.

Does she sing? This is how Shemekia Copeland got started!

Haha, I like the 'skinny little arms' lines! You should put that to music for her, if you haven't already.

Ive got two of those little women at home
One is four nearly five and ive just bought her a guitar she plays around with harps and a big six comin soon for her birthday.
The other is two and loves harp too just bought her a ukelele too so she wont fight over the four yr olds guitar.
Hopefully they too will write lyrics as cool as that

"She trying to be witch my man"

I keep hearing that line in my head. It's actually a great line. It sounds like 'bewitch' which sounds very bluesy, almost New Orleansy, and 'be with' which sounds very urban and current.

@ nacoran-certain practitioners of our local N'awlins dialogue would indeed say something that sounds like 'be wit', meaning more or less to 'hook up' or 'do the horizontal mambo' with, so to speak...That's what made me grin the most when I read her lyrics-the unintentional very mature play on words...I have to try very hard to come up with something that cool!

If that's actually her writing, she's a lyricist prodigy.

Seriously brilliant. You're looking at the new Cindy Walker, or something.

That's just amazing. It would already be impressive coming from an adult, but 8? She got the blues for good.

Sounds like she goes to a public school alright.

That is remarkable. As long as she enjoys the blues I'd spend a good deal of time teaching her how to express herself and how to embrace certain fundamental music skills whether singing or an instrument. Nice!
