I have been able to do overblows for a while but overdraws have been mission impossible for me - even when I stop the drawreed with my fingers to assist.
Somebody was taking about how important it is to adjust the gap really close and so I tried it. When adjusted the blowreed gap VERY tight I could do it in few minutes all the holes 7-10 with the help of a finger. And when I assembled the harp again I did it without finger assist from the hole 7 right away. (I'm at office so I can't try it very much right now.. ;)
So, if you have same kind of problems try to adjust the blowreed gap so tight it seems to be almost closed. Then stop the drawreed with your finger and find a position where overdraw happens. After little practice assemble the harp again and try to do it without the finger's help.
Actually here the Turbo Harp lids are also quite useful: You can easily switch from finger assisted practice to full practice and back in just a second. I don't like to play very much with turbo lids, but they sure are handy with making little adjustments on the gaps, tuning the reeds and overbend practice as you can assembly and disassembly the harp in two seconds.
