Hi:
I heard Christelle Berthon with her Seydel and I believe she plays great. Great great tone. Can anyone please compare the instrument with Suzuki's harps and hohners? Do Seydel harps have any special features and specifications?
Thanks

Seydel have welded reeds. They are more similar to suzuki than hohner. For an extra couple bucks they come eqipped with suicide doors.

That theyre more similar to suzuki than honher is my opinion.

That they can come equipped with suicide doors as a special feature is a lousy attempt @ humor.

Hoolines, go to the following link, look down the lefthand side for Harmonicas by Brand. You'll see all the manufacturers listed there. Click one and you'll see a list of harmonicas along with customers reviews. You'll get a better perspective of what users think.

her tone has very little to do with the harmonica.

I haven't seen all models of seydels but the 1847 definitely does NOT have welded on reeds.

I was wondering why seydel would sell a de-riveting tool if they didn't use rivets.

My mistake, I wasnt really talking about the 1847. I have a soloist pro and the reeds are welded, they aren't brass either.

The only harmonica company that uses spot welded reeds is Suzuki.

Welded reeds is an advantage or disadvantage? Does it make the harp last longer or not?
Thanks

"Does it make the harp last longer or not?" Not necessarily. Suzuki would claim they can fix the reed to the reedplate more accurately with less force applied to the reed. Trouble is, it is more difficult to replace a reed should you get into self-repairing. Brendan Power explains how to do it on one of his YouTube videos but it looks bit hit and miss to me. Sometimes it it is more time saving to just replace the reedplates.

If the reed is welded, it won't get misaligned when you drop the harp.
