Favourite key as in favourite sounding harp key, not the key to play in. I think mine is either Bb or D, leaning towards Bb...I have to say my least preferred is G, not to offend anyone! bearing in mind however that i'm yet to play a F, E or any other flatted keys

My Seydel 1847 Classic in G. I also like my 1847 Low C because I can play in first position with bends, but without the notes being too shrill. I tend to prefer lower keys.

Overall, my favorite key is G... especially if I'm playing by myself (just harp). My most common positions are 3rd (Am) and 1st. Am is the most common key for me to play blues in, so G was a natural choice.

I guess i'm yet to find the right G harp,..well i know for a 'fact' I'm yet to. Only have a blues harp in G and frankly its shite.

Blues Harps, without mucho TLC, are usually shite.

My favorite key harp is D, but I'm so in love with my Star Performer in Eb that I feel unfaithful just thinking that.

My favorite key is the one that opens my door
My favorite note says we're out of eggs
Sweet lord, I've been on the road for twenty-three weeks
And I can barely stand on my own two legs.

Or D, but it changes every few weeks.

Not sure I fully understand what you guys mean: do you mean the actual Key of the harp as such - you have a particular affinity for these frequencies or most of your favorite songs or for that key ? Or is it the quality of the harp in that particular key ?

That brings the question: is there a relationship between manufacturing quality of harp - notes are exact, easy to bend nicely airtight and so on - and particular key. Could there be a key more difficult to make than others ?

just wondering ...

its really just any harp you own...just what is your favourite harp, then that'l answer the question of what key as well.

We had a similar thread a while ago, and I think most harp peeps loitered around A back then.

My favs are the lower keys - especially A and Bb. When I try to work out why, I suppose it's because they're not as shrill as the higher ones. Still, they're all good in their own way.

If I'm understanding CJames correctly, originally you were asking what key harp you want in your hand, not what position you want to play in?

The three harps I grab to go up on stage for open mic are a G Oskar, a D Piedmont and a C Oskar (and now reluctantly an E Piedmont.)
