i keep stumbling on little gems by accident that i soon forget and can't recall them.
so i'll be getting one of mp3 players that have a recorder facility on it.
i walk for 2 hours minimum every day and have 10 minutes on the harp on my way back.some of the best stuff thats come my way has come in this 10 minutes.iknow i won't be on my own finding great stuff this way.i remember reading mark knopfler saying some of his best riffs came by accident.
anyway,it's something i've learned.it may not be new to you guy's but it is to me.always happy to learn something new.

Good idea Manky. I have a little cassette recorder that I use but a recordable MP3 would be better. Only problem not sure if the rewind facility would be as good and convenient as a cassette player. If it's all digital, it may be bit awkward. Especially if you want to keep going back over a piece time and again.

I heard an interview with Smokey Robinson & he said he used his mobile phone to his voice mail box when he came up with a tune or lyric idea.

manky you are into some serious walking. I walk every other day for 1.5 hours ie 10ks & every alternate day I swim for 1.5ks. Don't think much about harp playing and the ipod is no good in the pool. It's very hot here ie in the 30s C with dripping humidity so walking is not much fun after about 6am.

Am a real fan of Mark Knoffler and one of his pieces that I like is 'A Love Idea' from Last Exit to Brooklyn. Its really a few simple repetitive riffs - but not blues. There is a Youtube of Mark playing it on guitar but the only download I have been able to get is the orchestral soundtrack. I really like it.

Aussiesucker,i had heart bypass surgery in 1998 with 6 grafts.if i don't look after myself i won't last long.i have a duty to my family and the surgeons who looked after me to do the best i can.so far,so good.
anyway,it gets me out of the house.
it's pretty cold here at the moment.i do find it harder going in the summer.
i love mark knopflers stuff.i have everything he's ever done.
i lived in adelaide for a while.so wher about are you?
