Hey everyone! I'm new to this board and consider myself an intermediate player. I've searched the board for "concert amp" topics but haven't run into many. Does anyone have experience with tube configurations with these? I'm currently running AY's in V1 & V2 and an AT in PI slot in addition to bridging the 2 channels. Also posted on this board was the two volume controls interacting on the Bassman, can't remeber if it was an original, RI, or LTD, but wondered if the 2 volumes work the same on the brown concerts as well.

I have a '60 Concert.Generally, stock. Running 12ax7's straight across with JJ 6L6s. Tough amp! I'm currently using a Lone Wolf ocatave pedal. Thick tone for days. I usually don't use pedals but this is different. It doesn't sound like an octave pedal. It just creates a very thick tone with lots of harmonica complexity. The amp sounds great in good stock condition but this pedal adds something special. No problem staying up with guitar volume although I HATE PLAYING THE BLUES AT HIGH VOLUME!

The two volume controls on the Concerts do NOT work the same way as it does on a 4-10 Bassman. The circuitry is very different on those Concerts as well as some of the early 60's 2-10 Supers and also the Vibroverb.
Most Fender tube amps have whsat's called passive tone controls. What this means is that the amp already comes from the factory with a preshaped sound and when the tone controls are set all the way up, you have the setup at flat from the factory (the preshaped sound from the factory), and the only thing that the tone controls do is cut and they do NOT boost anything at all.
The Concerts, some 2-10 Supers of the era, and the Vibroverb have what's called active tone controls, and that means whatever side of 1/2 way you turn the tone controls, are boosting or cutting for REAL. These were one of the very first tube amps to use this style of tone controls and many British amps from the mid 60's on used this setup and ALL solid state amps and PA's (other than the Fender tube PA's that were made until the mid 80's) have tone controls that work this way.
The two volume controls interacting on the 4-10 Bassman work that way on both the originals as well as the reissues. However, the channel you're NOT plugged into, do not set it past 6 or there will be a substantial volume loss. I have a real Bassman that I've owned since 1983 and I know this circuit for a fact.
