I took my wife to see the show - santa memories- in Columbus tonight . The show was not on tonight. We screwed up with dates.......... The downtown was dead. Nothing moving. Everything closed with signs in the windows "closed have a merry christmas". The only people moving about were the homeless. One came up to us when we were parking for the show. Man, I felt bad, but we just told him no, started up the car and moved to another block. He was not right in the head....... Anyway, the song tells the rest. I spent a christmas eve homeless. That night always kinds of haunts me on christmas eves but tonight really hit me. I am very thankful for all I have. If you are up tonight, and are in an introspective mood, I recorded some songs just now that are about christmas from the blue side. Walter

christmas eve in an empty city
merry christmas to all the homeless dogs of the world
home for christmas
a childs christmas wish

I dropped by here, first. I didn't notice your post. Then I dropped by Bushman and spotted the post. I came back here wanting to post this song, and then I spotted it here.

I don't like turning my tender side up, therefore I don't have words to describe the feeling I got from
Christmas Eve in an Empty City.

I'll just say "touching" and let it go at that, ya know?

thanks gene for listening and posting the link! How did you get that link to go direct?

Thanks shanester!

Hobostubs Ashlock: Thanks for the compliment! I have been working hard the past 4 years teaching myself how to record. I have a longtime friend that has engineered for folks like Cher, Natile Cole, and he spent a day in my studio a month or so ago. He shared some great tips and I am working on dialing them into my mixes. This recording thing is as deep as you want to get, much like any instrument. Walter

"...How did you get that link to go direct?..."

I clicked on the song, then copied the url from the address bar.

In case that's not what you meant:

I tried a dozen ways to type it here, but I can't get it to show the way I typed it. I'll have to break it down into sentences.

*Type <
*type a href=
*copy/paste or type the entire url, then type >
So far, the only space should be between the 'a' and the 'href'
*Now, without a space between the '>' and the first charactor of your next text, type anything you want.
*Finally, without any spaces, type < / a >

< a h r e f = http : // www . modernbluesharmonica . com/board/edit_message/5560960/541803/4062593.htm > TRYING THIS WITH A LOT OF INCORRECT SPACES < / a >

Some forums use a different code: Instead of < and >, some use [ and ] along with "url=" instead of "a href=".

Ah! I found a way to type it...kinda:

Some forums use this code:
[url=http://www.google.com/]Whatever you want here.[/url]
(This is EXACTLY how to do it on other forums. I could copy/paste that elsewhere and it would work.)

But on this forum, you'd replace the [ and ] with < and>.
You'd replace url= with a href=.
You'd replace the [/url] with < / a > (but without spaces.)

Whatever you want here.

It would be really useful to have a piece of code that let you post html without it activating so you can show people what they really need to type.

Walter,
Copy/paste this to a "post message" box, then edit it.
[url=http://www.google.com/]Whatever you want here.[/url]

Replace all the square brackets with those arrow things.
Replace "url=" with "a href=" ---(a, space, href)
Replace "/url" with "/a"

Above, you have < a h r e f=
You should have only one space--The space goes between the a and href. Like this:
a href(equal sign)

OR we can try it this way:
Here's what you tried:
< a h r e f =http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=157137>my music

I'll put ~ where you need to remove spaces.
<~a h~r~e~f =http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=157137>my music

Now you need to add < / a > after "my music"

<~a h~r~e~f~=http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=157137>my music~<~/~a~>

That's it. Just back-space out ALL the ~ and it will work.(Remember to KEEP the space between a and href.)

Nacoran, You ain't a' kiddin'!!

WALTER!! DID YOU GO TO BED ALREADY??!! Hell, the sun ain't even come up, yet! Dang all you day people! :D
