Im using a Squier amp thats about two years old, its about a 60 to 80 dollar amp, i do no know to much about it, since it was an x-girlfriends, and has been setting for a while, and i have been messing around with the settings for a little while, which are standard treble, bass, and volume knobs, i have not tried the overdrive on it, but any suggestions on what to set the settings on each knob? i am not to much of a gear head, so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

It's more than likely a solid state amp and won't be ideal, but since it's your only amp here's a few pointers. Give it a little gain - 2 or 3. Turn the master volume up as high as it will go without feedback, now back it off to where it's ok. Dial down the treble a fair bit - 9 O'clock, boost the bass - 3 O'clock and scoop the midrange out if you have mid controls (9-10 O'clock). Cup your mic tightly and see how it goes. Every amp's different, so you'll need to play around.

At one of the IBC competitions here in Denver, harp player Clay Kirkland played through a little solid state Fender Frontman 15, the last amp you'd think would be good for harp tone. But I was there and Clay's tone was sensational. He used an old Shure PE585V mic and a delay pedal.

The cheapo Frontman 15 is probably very similar to the Squire amp. It's not what I would use for harp, but it sure sounded good that day.

Clay's band won that round of the IBC, and went to the regional finals. So... ya just never know. If you practice a lot with that Squire amp you could probably get decent tone.
