Bummer, I see the thread's been locked. Oh well, I originally planned to work towards attending the next Spah as a way to thank you personally and contribute to you as well as treat myself to a harmonica pilgrimage.

I was delighted to see this offering, I told myself I would do that instead. Looks like it's back to Spah.

Adam, please don't be offended by some posters. I think they are more committed to poverty consciousness and being righteous. These days I've got to take a deep breath before I pay to replace a trashed $30.00 harp! And still I know I would do what it takes to get my ass there, whether it cost $40 or $500, and I already know what you got from your generous youtube videos! I don't give a shit what format it would be.

Thanks for considering it, and maybe it could still happen, and be profitable, dammit!

I think there are plenty in your harp community who would agree with that!

Well,I thought it was a great idea. I couldn't commit to go just yet.I have made a priority to go to SPAH next year. First I have to come up with that cash. I was a bit annoyed that someone on this forum had a distrust of Adam (and Jason). If you're a regular here, you know Adam is a stand up guy.

Adam, please don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. A an event/camp like this would an outstanding good time and an enormous bargain at the prices suggested. I will move heaven and earth to attend if such an event comes to fruition. There are several obviously broke harp enthusiasts and the occasional cheap bastard, and frankly, nobody can do anything about that. Please reconsider.

I was really interested in this offering as well.

The reason I hadn't sent Adam an Email saying so was that my company can no longer afford their own IT department & informed us that we're being let go by May 2010. To make a long story short I wasn't going to plan anything until I found my next employment but I definitely was interested in this.

I hope this hasn't been scrapped.

I was going to suggest maybe setting up a live web cast for those of us that are outside the USA, for a modest fee of course. what do you guys think?

sorry to hear that Ryan, hope things turn up for you!

Adam..........please don't let one person's attitude change you mind. I believe that 200 is quite a fair price considering everyone that will be there and what you have to put in to it. I'd love to be able to go....You have done so much for us And I appreciate it as do most of the forum participants.

I'll talk to Jason and see what he thinks. I still think the basic idea of a get-together is rock-solid. The mechanics and economics of it need tinkering.

Adam you did the right thing locking and maybe starting over.eharp had some questions and statements that made sense and did not make sense. You will have that when trying to do this with so many crazy harp nuts. You know we are not normal.
If you ran one of these clinics or clubs it is very hard to do and you worry all the time if people will be having fun and learning that is what this is all about.
Can I say my piece and dont want to hurt anyone. On the east coast there has not been any camps around here for a while.SPAH has never had a convention here.
Adam you want to do something have a convention in NYC Phila or Dc.You will get more people. The hotel and the food would have to done some how.
As a person that has run clinics with Adam,Jason,Annie Rains and have started one great club(HARP)
That is what I would like.My dream

Hey

There are always nitpickers, and as a rule of thumb they barely ever even have a rough idea of what they're talking about. Yes, events can be organized extremly cheap if nobody has to be paid, no rooms have to be rented, no food to is be served and somebody brings PA and everything for free. The main flaw about such events is, that they are hardly ever good organized and the quality of lesons varies extremly. You get what you pay for!

If you manage to bring up an event like what you described for just 200$ each you're time (and i know from personal experience, that organizing such an event consumes very much time) will be paid very badly!

200$ is much coin? Yes for many it is. For what you're planning there it isn't!
Don't get bothered by them nitpickers. If i wasn't a few thousand miles away from Mississippi i'd come for sure.

the world dosnt tailor it self to fit peoples financial problems. if you cant afford something you shouldnt worry about it in the first place cause you clearly dont have the money. i want a porshe but im not about to start complaining that they cost too much an they should lower the price on them. lol.

OK, I guess it's all settled--first, go to johnsparrows house and give him a 2-dayer for $25--then it's off to eharp's house for another $25--then, off to my house (I'll even buy the chips and beer)--by the end of the summer, you'd probably have 2 or 3 hundred to split up between Adam, Jason, Harmonica Dean--and whoever else wants in on this money tree . . . heeheeheehee. . . .

Thanks dudes for having our backs. Hey I worked for Jon too a bunch of times and I ran a "jam camp" twice at major 4 star Hotels that SPAH had even used in the past and I'm not half as organized or together as Adam! What evs' Gussow can get that shit done, so the only question is When baby!?

For me the 200$ seems cheap like hell. If you'd travel to northern Finland I'd pay 500$ for a weekend like that.. :)

I guess many of as came to playing harp because it costs only 25$.

Live webcast is also a good idea - if it's not really live, I mean, since the time difference in here is something like 10 hours depending on where you organize the event. Perhaps you guys could take the example of Howard and David's and put on an interactive online harp workshop for some weekend (or week to overcome the time zone difficulties)?

I mean having some lectures, study groups and gigs recorded during the week and possibilities to have video recorded masterclasses (video exchanges) with you guys.

As I said previously, even the upper figure of $200 is still a bargain. At least one other mentioned sleeping in their vehicle to save money. If there are others who would otherwise do so if it weren't for security issues, then perhaps we could meet at one location and "circle the wagons" so to speak; Could pack food and have a tailgate breakfast, I'll bring the coffee!

ugh. Don't let this idea die. I didn't think I'd be able to attend but I guess, in the spirit of the holiday, the wife said that, "...I'd be crazy not to go..". That's pretty much a Hall Pass to attend. I can't commit until I can secure the cash, etc. but I'd sure as hell love to make the trip, meet the good folks of this forum, hear some good harp and pick up a thing or two for my own playing. $200 is NOT out of the question.

I think it's awesome, and it's only about a 5 hour drive for me. If I do go, I too will want to live cheap, but camping in Mississippi in June is friggin' HOT. Perhaps we need to start picking tent buddies and assigning shifts to fan the sleeping harpers...Please send pics of yourself in a bikini.

Just kidding. Please don't.

Adam, same with me, i DO have the strongest urge to attend, see you and thank you for all i got from you so far! - i am always ALWAYS throwing 'coins' into your 'basker hat' (=buying each of your MBH lessons whenever available) if i can use those lessons or not... i know i WILL have fun when i eventually get to listen to it/watch it, may be even 'use' it to work with it for some time...).
i just do not know yet (at this time) if i can really make it to THIS planned event in the given time slot. but i never thought that the price was not fair.
i'll do this (or a later!) 'pilgrimage' for sure.
i am looking forward to seeing/listening to/learning from both of you!
