It will hit the streets somewhere in january but is already available on his website, and yes, a friend sent me a copy two weeks back. It took me two or three listenings to get hooked and I now also made a copy for my car and on my computer. SB is defintely a bluesman, but Threshold is not a blues CD. I have read somewhere that he defines himself as a writer of blues oriented songs, and there are some great cuts of songwriting there. "Average Guy" is a great little song. I was at first a little put off by the more straightforward "Stop the war", specially because of added voices and effect, but still it is a great cut. Harpwise, Threshold -IMO- doesn't reach the heights of Code Blue or In your eyes, but it's still a master at work. What I find really interesting is that although the songs are not blues songs (there are still some of your 12 bars blues, don't worry), he nonetheless plays blues harp. His phrasing is incredible (no chugging here), and he can use his ten holes. Is that me and my ignorance, or is there anyone out there playing or beeing able to play that kind of harp music ?

If you like SB, what is probably his best material can be found on his first 2 albums made in France. These are out of print, but are available as an MP3 album called "Another Man Done Gone" which you can get on Amazon. Well worth checking out. Very innovative, very sophisticated. Two of the tunes on "Code Blue" first appeared on these recordings. Absolutely great stuff!

If you are searching for that playing style, very articulate and funky, Jason Ricci is the one you should listen to, IMO. Specially the "Rocket N°9" album.

If you want to understand SB, track down a rare LP called "Blues is Truth," where he teamed up with Brownie McGhee and Louisiana Red. He plays beautiful, sweet, traditional blues, but then he starts hitting those....OTHER notes, the ones that give his playing its distinctive flavor. You get the sense that 99% of players would have just stayed with that style--lightly flavored & updated traditional harp--but his muse drove him onward, to our benefit.

Here's the link. "Walk On" is an amazingly good cut.

Thanks for the advices, I'll check that. I actually remember SB playing on his own in the subway in Paris. I was a young guy then and not much in the blues, but you could'nt miss him. Sheer energy.
