I started out Lip pursing almost a year ago and recently been learning how to TB. I cant seem to get the same volume as when lip pursing. When Lip pursing I can focus and draw(inhale) and blow(exhale) more air then when in the TB position. For example drawing on the 4 hole TB'ing the 3 holes to the left. I get a single note but just can't wail unless in the Lip purse position.
Anyone experience this when starting TB'ing? Any suggestions I read that TB's is superior ( Dont want to start a which is better) but I must be missing something.
Thanks for the help.

They both have advantages worth knowing about. The reason why you havd a percieved volume loss is because the inside shape of your mouth is still on puckering mode and you need to have the inside shape of your mouth to be both considerably more relaxed and much more wide open, plus it is also VERY important that your tongue is placed on the harp VERY LIGHTLY. What you are experiencing is common to those who started like you did and when learning anything new, you DO have to adapt AKA make adjustments. Also your lips need to be more open over a wider area and you need to have more of the harp in your mouth as well. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
