I wish I had one. My wife called about 10 days before Christmas and ordered two: C and B flat. She was told that C is on backorder, but the B flat would ship the next day. It never arrived before Christmas. Today, we contact the vendor, and they said it shipped out on the 24th. Umm, its a Christmas present? Why didn't it ship on the 15th? So, I email them and ask for a tracking number. The tracking number says it was picked up on the 28th! I don't think I'll be doing business with these guys again. Can anyone recommend a place to order for future reference?

Philosofy,

Order from which country? Harmonicas Direct in the UK are great, as is The Harmonica Company.

What do you want to buy this awful instrument? I was the third person in UK to get it, and it is shite!! For the same money you can get Marine Band Crossover, which is 100 times better instrument.
In terms of shop, Harmonicas direct is the best place and they give you discount of you member of NHL.

You should call the thread "My non-manji experience" ;-)
I just hope you'll get them soon.
Why don't you give the name of the shop ? It would be helpful for all of us. I was myself ripped off by Harp Depot some months ago (paid 150$, harps never sent, no reply to emails), and was sorry to be warned only later.
Anyway, I actually clicked on the 'confirm your order' button only 10 minutes ago for 3 Manjis (G, A & Bb) from Musicians Webstore in Canada... I'll let you know.

You don't say where you ordered it from.

I would think your post should read "my order experience from ?????" rather than "My Manji experience :(" .

I doubt you are complaining about the "Manji experience" since it doesn't appear you have received one to actually experience, but rather the order you placed with "who ever ???".

Anyhoo- If you are in the States- try "Rockin Rons Music {http://rockinronsmusic4less.com} - I've orderd both a Manji and some Promaster reed plates from them. Both arrived in 2 days- I'm on the east coast and they are in Cali. They even followed up my initial order with a phone call with in the first hour of ordering. Super customer service.

If you are other than US, you might still give them a try? As for the Manji- From my limited experience, it's a great harp. I'd highly recommend it.

hope this helps- good luck... and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!!!!! (Bluesharp- If you don't blow you suck)

EDIT- WOW!! in the time it took me to type this (slow typer) you already got 4 replies!!! GO MBH forum!!!

I'm in the US. When I get the harps, I'll post the name. I'm just afraid if I trash them here, I won't get anything!

There are also some reputable dealers of the manji ive found on ebay. I know a couple of guys whove ordered theirs that way with very quick turnarounds...my next two (a C, and an A) will probably come from ebay.

I wanted an A, and this dealer told my wife they didn't make it in A. And the C was on backorder.

I waited 2 months on backorder for my C Manji. Finally got it 2nd week of Dec. A week later I received an identical one in the mail. So,Philosofy, I probably have your C. LOL
Waiting 'til after the holidays to straighten it out.

An update: my wife tells me she wasn't informed of the C not being in stock until after Christmas. And when she called the order in, the gentlemen assured her it would ship within 48 hours and be here for Christmas.

The only two online harp specialist stores I've yet to hear complaints about are Coast To Coast Music and now Rockin' Ron's Music 4 Less.

Correction Bob - you should specify US based online stores

I have never heard of, nor had any complaint from the UK based Harmonicas Direct. They are one of those companies that bend over backwards to help (A few Christmases ago, Peter Blyth spent 20 minutes on the phone with my harp-ignorant mother-in-law helping her choose a good present for me). Turnaround is usually by return post. I just cannot fault them.

I've bought about 10 harps from Rockin' Ron and he is awesome. Free shipping and I usually get them in less than a week. The one time he didn't have the harp I wanted in stock he emailed me within 24 hrs. to let me know and the harp still came to me in less than 10 days. Can't say enough good about the guy...

I checked my credit card, and there is no charge yet. So perhaps they are on the up and up. They "guaranteed" my wife they would be here for Christmas, but they never said what would happen if they didn't live up to the guarantee. But they definitely didn't ship until the 28th, even though they said they shipped on the 24th.

And Bob, you can take Coast to Coast off the list. They are the ones. I've previously ordered some Seydel 1847's and Suzuki Promasters from them, and I think that's where my wife got my Bushman's a couple years ago. But they aren't coming through for me now.

I got the B flat today. Ordered on the 18th, shipped on the 28th. They invoiced me for two harps, but hand wrote another number because I only got one of the two. I'll tell them to forget the other one, I'll get it elsewhere.

Well, did they also tell you wife which year Christmas it would be at your home? ;)

Th add to the list:
Harponline will respond immediately if anything you ordered is on backorder (if it isn't noted on their homepage anyways). Anything in stock will be shipped the next working day.

If for any reason they don't ship the next working day they will let you know. thats at least my experience.

Philosofy,

If you're in the US, I'd say Rockin' Ron all the way! Can't go wrong with the guy... and he doesn't lie to customers about the non-existence of certain keys (your Manji in A) that may not be in stock @ the moment! In fact, Ron has even ordered certain keys for me that he didn't have at the moment. Great guy, awesome service!

Well, I loved the Bflat I eventually got. Last Thursday I called and ordered a C and an A from Rockin' Ron. I got them on Saturday, and they were cheaper than Coast 2 Coast (no shipping). I LOVE these harps! Very responsive, easy to bend, great tone. I just have to get used to the slightly smaller holes.

I received mine from Musician Webstore (G, A, Bb). I paid 42$ a piece, delivery ok, and they have all the keys (no back order).
Philosophy, I'll second you about these harps. I've always been torn beetween Hohner tone and Suzuki playability, and now feel that the Manji may be the answer. I still have to torture them a little more to get a better idea, but already think about going for C,D and F.
