I'd like to have my blues name engraved on my new B-Radical; Only problem is, I don't have one. I want to keep the surname, Stovall, with it's obvious blues heritage, but variations of the christian name- Rich, Richie, Richard- are optional.

Yes, I've already tried the blues name websites; Fun but not serious contenders.

Any suggestions?

What's wrong with Ozark Rich? Sounds fine to me. Or, do you have any bizarre idiosynchrasies such as one leg much shorter than the other, hair on your palms, three nipples, etc.? Those would be good to build on!

Ozark Rich sounds cool. He's not Beverly Hills rich, but he's Ozark Rich.
Ozark R. Stovall

I don't know. If you are sticking with Stovall and want some variation of Richard you could just make a chart with all the possibilities. Ozark would be a good hook.

There you have it. Another problem solved here at MBH forum! Maybe Brad Harrison would make it a signature model. Ozark, you'll be the first to go onstage with a shiny Big Dick in your mouth!

Your radio callsign is usually bestowed on you by the others in your unit, or your team leader. Once given, you really have no choice. I was lucky. I've seen some doozies that would be hard to live down or explain to your kids at the 20 year reunion. I think with your nom d' stage, you have some influence over the decision process.
My vote remains with "Big Dick" Stovall

I kind of like @toddlgreene's "Three-nipple Rick" or just "Nipples" for short. =:P

Thanks everyone!

Although I've had reservations with "ozark" as it is well-used locally, it's mostly associated with country and local businesses, and since it seems to have support here then perhaps I should stick with Ozark Rich.

Since my wife and I both work for a conservative church, of which we are both members (with a heritage of five generations at the same church), and my wife is my boss, "Big Dick Stovall" would not be the best choice (although catchy). It would sure be awkward if my wife had to fire me!

It would be better if your wife picked that name out for you.

@ Philsofy: Unfortunately, my wife's suggestion was "Stubs"! Such is the blues life.

My two favorites so far are Ozark Rich and Poor Rich Stovall.

Now I want a good blues name.
Blues Note Nate
Fat Nat Smith
The Dandruff Dandy
Whiskers McBaldy

I think I'll keep trying.

Anyone out there named Lee Gray? Premature Lee Gray would be a great blues name, or at least a decent Garbage Pail Kid.

I say
"Smokey Stovall".

[ I changed my stage name. LJS was somehow not easy for my bandleader/frontman to remember. The new name is "Joey Five & Dimes". He remembers it, and now people know me by it. I have people now introducing themselves to me in public, greeting me by this moniker. ]

I think "Richie Stovall" is good. It actually is a good sounding name. It rolls off the tongue. Has a professional ring to it, somehow. And it's a down-to-earth, honest name; no pretense. And it's not something you'll regret or get tired of.
