If I could play harp the way Collins plays guitar--well, that would be some hellacious harp.

But check out the whole band. I saw him live in NYC a few times during this period (mid/late 1980s) and he was the best out there, hands down.

I saw AC w/ this band when they were on tour. The energy level and intensity at which AC OPENED his show was higher than many bands build up to for their encore.

This era of Alberts career was a high point for sure. I opened for him about a dozen times around the country during this time (also with AC Reed). His shows were alway smoking hot. He would have me up to blow harp at them. It was one powerful sound being on that stage. Walter

My band played that last night at our NYE gig. Also played: If You Love Me Like You Say. The people dug. I LOVE Albert Collins. I saw him at the Col Ballroom right after the release of Cold Snap when I was in my late teens. It was incredible.

I was very fortunate to see Albert Collins at the Ash Grove in Los Angeles. It was somewhere around 1969 or 1970 and it was an incredible show.

Someone was commenting on rap in blues in another thread. This kind of fits the bill.

Seeing someone playing two saxes at once makes me glad I switched from Baritone Tuba to harmonica. I have small hands (although everyone always says I have a big mouth, so I've got that going for me.)

Love him. Not only were his bands always smokin' hot, and his guitar playing instantly recognizable, his lyrics were always fun.

I do "A Good Fool Is Hard To Find" with my band. Its on our CD, I play bari and tenor sax on that track. You can hear the sample at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bluestate or on iTunes.

I saw him sometime around 1990. He used to walk out into the crowd with a 100 foot cord. Now with wireless this is no big deal but people loved it back then. I always liked his sense of humor in his lyrics.
