G'day and Happy New Year, I downloaded the tabs to CCR version of Midnight special and I am trying to figure out what position I am playing it in. It starts on the 6 draw which in first position would be a VI, 2nd position it would be a II and third position it would be a V, (Nashville numbers). The only notes used are the I, II, flat VII, V, and the IV.
I can also play it starting on the 8 blow. when I look at the notes used they are all part of the blues scale except the II. I havn't figured out if this is supposed to be the root note or have they just started on this note but the real root note is the I. Maybe because the II note is used a lot it would appeal to a wider audience than a pure blues song, regards Neil
