Actually, the Musicmaster had 2 6V6 tubes in the power section:

It had a solid state rectifier so there's no 5Y3.

An unusual feature of this amp is the phase inverter. It's based on a transformer instead of the usual tube.

I have a 74 SF princeton 12" baffle and the tube line up is 2 6V6,s 2 ax 7,s and a 5U4 rectifier so I believe even tho they,re both 12 watts i believe they,re different animals altho i have not tried a MM.I believe BN/Goose talked about one of these yrs back on the weber harp board. But for $250. I,m sure they,re worth checking out and if you did the test run Mark I,m sure you have the ear for it.

Two major differences between the SFP and the MMB...solid state rectifier, and a transformer for the phase inverter on the MM as opposed to tubes.

Yep, had one. It was a chopped head with the 6V6's as opposed to the later 6AQ5's. MMB is not even close to Princeton. I did a cap job on mine and tried it with several speakers. Didn't care for it. Then went with a grid leak bias setup and switchable bypass cap. Still didn't care for it. The thing just never had any balls. Sold it for $175 to a guitar guy who loves it. It was a cute little head though.

Just goes to show ya, there is an amp for every man...BN

I've never used the amp in question but the schematic suggests that it has very little in common with a Princeton. The tone stack is different, the rectifier is different, and the phase inverter is differentiate. It may be a great harp amp, but it's got very little in common with a Princeton.

I had 1964 blackface with knobs and they had already changed to two 6v6's. I wish I still had that amp!
