hi guys, do you have to plug the impedence transformer direct to the mic or is it possible to use it on the other end? ( i mean close to the amp instead ).
Thanks.

I use it at the other end just before my delay because my pedal needs a high impedence input. I wouldn't add it to the mic because it adds extra weight.

Putting it at the amp end allows the use of longer mic cables (if and when that is a factor). The Audio Technica x-former I have tends to pick up a lot of hum when plugged into the amp directly, or even when positioned too close to it, so that might be a consideration for you as well.

I have seen a couple of the matching Low-Z to Hi-Z x-formers with a short length of mic cable between the in and out (Audix, I think..?). Anyone ever have one of these apart? I would like to get one and replace the short pigtail with a three-foot lead adapted to plug directly into my wireless transmitter.
