i realy do prefer the lower tuned harps.
i,ve a SP20 normal D E and F,and i have to force myself to play them.
i,m not talking about the LOW LOW harps, just the LOW.
the C is about as high as i want to go.
i'm not too keen on the high pitched squeal sound the D E F high notes make.no body to them and don't sound very bluesy to me. i still use chromatic for melody stuff because all the notes are there.i can't do overblows so there is still missing notes.the train rythmm stuff is great on the LOW harps, and they sound better blues than anything else to my ears.

I think the high harps can sound good, but they are not a pleasure (for me) to play.

Wow, I really like the higher harps. You can really get the reeds to chirp. Junior Wells did great work on F harps...

The highest harp I can really enjoy is a well-made Eb. I've got an old F harp and I avoid playing it like it charges me money. It might just be a lousy harmonica, but playing her and getting any kind of articulation out of any bend is like pulling teeth.

speaking of low harps i been playing around with tweaking and tuning my cheaper harps, its fun but,i remember a thread a while back on low harps and someone on here that knows what hes talking about from what i gather said any harp can be turned into a low harp with adding super glue to the reeds, somehow, and was wanting to play around with that idea on a cheap harp,i was wondering is this the tips or the back of the reed or could it vary, and do you rutune after the glues sets, anyone heard of doing this and if so is it a permanent fix or do you have to repeat the glueing every so often?

I naturally grab a D harp most of the time, and onstage I prefer the higher keys, as they cut thru the mix better.

I actually find myself playing my D harp quite a bit. I have a little Celtic sounding piece I play on it, and sometimes use my F. You do have to be very careful to play very cleanly on high harps. Some of the stuff that sounds nice dirty on a lower harp really can peel paint at higher pitches.

I like them all. My lead guitar player pretty much insists on me using them all anyway...it's his band, so that helps.

We have discussed the high harps and he really like to write music in E, B and C. He wants some high stuff and some low stuff. I have even gotten heavily into first position because of this..first position E rockin'blues really can smoke! I do it on a suzuki harpmaster or on a special 20 depending on if it's going to have a lot of chords or not.

He recently wrote a song in B that I use an E harp for a very hot harp solo and some serious chucking and chugging during the rhythm sections.

I even have an f# harp I haven't used outside the house yet and a high G harp coming soon.

I encourage you to hang tough with them and figure them out...light breaths! Tiny reeds, easy choking, so I think they are good for my technique on all the harps.

My low F and G are my favorites. Which reminds me, I gotta get a Low E soon...
