Was Googling to find out who wrote "Livin' on Tulsa TIme" and came across this site "Am I Right? - Making Fun of Music, one song at a time" at: http://www.amiright.com/ It has lots of fun stuff about song lyrics that get misconstrued and such. For example, after "Livin' On Tulsa Time" finished on the radio, a young child asked, "Daddy. Why is he singing about living on toast and wine."
I don't know Sparrow, maybe it's I know the lyrics, but I think they are really stretching a bit on some of those, and I think maybe the real Nirvana lyrics are weirder than the ones they made up. I've seen some great ones done to foreign language songs, although I can't find any right now. There are some classics too... 'The ants are my friends, they're blowin' in the wind, the ants are blowin' in the wind.'
An old chestnut is Hendrix's "Excuse me while I kiss the sky" which people hear as "Excuse me while I kiss this guy". Hendrix was actually in on the joke because I've got a live recording somewhere where he sings "excuse me while I kiss that guy" ---------- Kinda hot in these rhinos!
