I came across a video on brendan-power.com about paddy richter tuning.
I am wondering if you can still play the blues with that tuning?

I guess yes, you can still play the basic notes of the blues scale in 2nd position. But, as the 3 blow is only one note (2 half steps) from the 3 draw, you will have a hard time bending the 3 draw further thant that. Another thing : it kills the IV chord.

I get that the chord will not be correct. But if I am playing a melody and want to bend the 3 draw will it sound wrong, or will I just not be able to bend it as far? I guess the only way is to try it. I hope I don't mess it up. ---------- Jimmy Famous

"will it sound wrong" Will it sound WRONG???? You'd be LUCKY if this won't lead to a black third hole and cause destructions of epic proportions because of this cosmic irregularity!!!
Ok, you will simply not be able to bend that far.. I.e. close to the blow reed.
sarega, why do you say it kills the IV chord. I guess you're going for the V chord as you need -3'''... however, you'd still have the 2ob... if it comes hard on hard.

GH, I meant the 1-2-3 blow chord. JimmyFamous, beware ! if you get near these harps or just think about them, you will be sucked in a supernova and immediately thrown back somewhere near Galway, your clothes will turn green, your hair red, and you will grow freckles. For the sake of you, stay away. Good beer, though.

The harmonica "has" sucked me in to some strange place and I can't seem to find my way home. But your right, the beer is good here. Yes I guess the 1-2-3 chord will be lost also. I am going to give this a try. ---------- Jimmy Famous

Yes you can. You've lost the IV chord low, your four will be 456 blow. You'll have to train yourself when you need that A note (on a C harp) to drop out of the bend and blow. The hardest thing will be to hit the 2 draw instead of the the 3 blow for the root of the I chord. ---------- www.elkriverharmonicas.com

From ElkRiver: "hit the 2 draw instead of the the 3 blow for the root of the I chord"
When I first started learning by ear I always hit the 3 blow for the root. But Adam Gussow says that the 2 draw should we your home base or root.
This has really been a problem for me as I find the 3 blow easier to hit, and I am used to using it, but I agree with Adam that the strong 2 draw is where you should go for that note.
Maybe using the Paddy Richter tuning will also make my 2 hole draw stronger. ---------- Jimmy Famous
