One option for shells is those chrome taillights for Harleys. I have a Ruskin mic from the 90's(with a dead crystal), and that's what it is in.

Ralf Fuckard aka BBHarpy builds great mics using those backlights as shells.

@ issac-what kind of trouble would it be to chrome-dip your setup(or anything, for that matter)? Ever research that? Man, a chromed RE10 or other stick mic would be sweet.

Well, Fuckardt. Missing t the first time. Now, there's a reason why he prefers "BBHarpy" on sites where english is the language of choice i guess ;) On the other hand you'll remember his name, no? :-D

@todd: I have no idea what chrome dipping entails... can you even chrome dip plastic? I supposed if you used all metal parts instead of the one pvc part, you could then dip it with out worry. I've thought of building one out of all copper fittings. It would look really cool, but it's more expensive than the aluminium/pvc route. I've also considered using metallic spray paint, which I think would be a cool way to go... ---------- ------------------

sure, I've seen plenty of chromed plastic, but I don't know if the procedure is the same...I'll do some research.

Hey,
I'm not sure if BBHarpy still makes those wood shells, however right now he sells a mic based upon a Harley Davidson light shell with some kind of dynamic element inside, and all reviews i've seen so far say it's really a killer mic. I don't own one myself (yet), but surely i'm going to have one.
If you're looking for a wooden shell, Greg does the best work of this kind i've seen so far. His performance is great and he makes sure you get _exactly_ what you want. I own one of his mics and i really love it. You'd really check out his website! I own one of his Ultimate series mics too, and all of his products are perfect.

I've used plastic pepper shakers that look like crystal as a mic shell with volume control...the element fits perfectly with a rubber gasket, sounds great, cheap and looks very cool

@Pimpinella - thanks! @ Oxharp - contact me via email please. I have to look. What are you looking for? In what state? Do you want it rebuilt, screw-on connector installed, ready to install an element?
I know I have some bluesblaster shells and some shure bullets - 520DX, 520/520D, 707, brown bullet. ---------- /Greg

Hey Jon I have a nice Sonny Junior/Turner mic with a volume control, if you're interested in purchasing it I can pull the CM element. My hands are too big for it.
Or if anyone wants the whole thing let me know, I'd sell it for what I gave for it($250). It's equal to my strongest mic, but bigger shells fit me better.

Russ, Sorry I don't know his email.
Might be an idea to start a post calling him. Maybe just call it something like "Belfast Harper get in touch".
By the way I have pretty much finally got that hard drive thing sorted out. Give me a shout when your back up and running and we'll sort something out. Also my email address has changed I'll send the new one to you.
