I know the overblows are occasionally not very clean and mostly not of correct intonation. Vibrato needs some more work and the timing in general not perfect... otherwise I'm quite content with it.

What do you guys think?

I will try working on it some more until the 31st.

That was very nice GH, I enjoyed that. Congratulations on being the first entrant. I'm really pleased you have not gone down the pure blues path. It opens up the field to a whole lot more musical possibilities. I've been wracking my brains to try and come up with something bluesy and so far failed. Now my options have suddenly widened. Thank You.

As to your piece, I found your overblows, vibrato etc, all worked well and added to the character of the piece. If it had been technically perfect, it wouldn't have been so enjoyable.

Right, who's next.

Thanks Diggs, tooka.

I like that you liked the imperfections... :)

Yup, many alternatives to the southern US folk music... Could I interest someone in southern German folk :). Something like the vid I posted yesterday for instance... ;)

Well done German Harpist!
Now, I wonder why you chose that photo?..... ;o)

Tooka, agreed. Now I know the entries aren't strictly blues, there's a lot more scope.

Well, I've got a bit further down the road here. I have managed to join harpfriends, and have found plenty of previous entries to HPC contests, but I can't seem to find this contest, or indeed German Harpist's entry. Could either of you please tell me what I have to do to access the contest?

Cheers!

Like tooka, I don't think that technical imperfections really matter too much. Providing that there aren't too many of them - which there aren't - they can make a performance more 'human'.

GH, what's the origin of that tune? Is it Bavarian? I like it, anyway.

Gwythion, I haven't actually added it to Harpfriends yet. (EDIT: it's on harpfriends now). However, to access the contest just add the video to the harpfriends group with the correct title.

Nope it's supposed to be somehow jewish and was inspired by this vid. I know by posting this I will make my performance seem soo much more crude. But so be it. :)

@Gwythion@ I think GH has put his video into his own YouTube Channel so it doesn't actually appear in the Harpfriends channel yet.

@GermanHarpist@ How do you see the new Harpfriends Channel working? I couldn't see any means of creating a dedicated Playlist for the HPC3 entries? Do we just upload to the new Group without a Playlist?

@Gwythion@ Hang in there. You've done well to get as far as you have. Hopefully GH will be able to answer your query.

As you were. GH just answered your question before I could post. I'm a bit confused between Channel and Group.

Nice, GH! I thought I detected a Klezmer-esque feel! Original and unexpected idea.

Do entries have to be videos on YouTube? How 'bout audio clips?

Preferably Rick but if that presents a problem, I could put your audio track (if it's in wma format) into a YouTube video for you. There would be no picture unless you have a jpeg you'd like to put with it. I need to go offline now but will check here tomorrow to see what you think. My email address is in my profile.
