when cupping a SM58 mic how much of the mic should be in the hands.
Should you seal around the 'equator' of the mic?
should the back part of the grill be in the hands or in the free air? or doesn't it matter.
I don't own one to experiment with but there is ofen one at an open mic to use on the house PA

Sealing around the equator with the meaty part of the hands below the pinky's or as low as i can get works for me. Almost as hard as trying to cup a green bullet mic. Since i sing alot i barely have time to cup the 58. Maybe experiement with a golf ball or something similar..... Im going to try that too........

Just make sure that mic is eq'd for harp(trim back the highs and mids) and isn't too hot, or it will squeal like a banshee when you cup it.
