Wanted to give a shout out to Greg Heumann for doing a great job "ultimzing" my 545 mic. Greg did the conversion the day he received the mic in the mail and had it back in the mail the next day. The mic sounds as great as it always did but is now in a much lighter and convenient package. Thanks Greg!

Greg's 545 Ultimate is a GREAT mic. 545s sound terrific for harp anyway, but they are heavy and so are somewhat awkward to cup for harp playing. Greg's 545 Ultimate solves those problems and the volume control is a lot more useful than I thought it would be. Wonderful design. And, of course Greg's workmanship and customer service are top notch.

I keep thinking of doing this. I love my 545, but it is hard to hold, heavy, and needs a volume knob.

You won't regret it. I liked the sound of my 545 but never carried it or used it or gigs because it was too heavy and hard to hold. Now my 545 Ultimate is my primary mic for performance. I like it so much I got a spare. Btw, the color of the mic is actually a deeper, richer looking red than what appears on the website as a bright red. Very nice in every respect.

Don't hesitate to contact Greg, his work and customer service are first rate. I had my 545 'Ultimized' and also have one of his SM57s - I never use any other mics for gigging now.

Hey, everyone - THANK YOU so much for your kinds words. I am truly happy to be able to do what I do. I am really proud of the Ultimate. I like 545's but they're just too damn heavy to play for long. And the small head diameter makes my left hand cramp. The Ultimate fixes that. Every product I make was developed out of my own needs or those of my customers. Jason Ricci pushed me hard to develop a shorter lighter SM57 - the first stage was the SM57-JR and then came the Ultimate.

As for customer service - in my previous career I worked for small and big corporations. As companies get bigger, customer service declines, necessarily. One of my favorite things about this business is the LUXURY I have to work with customers to ensure they're going to get what they want. AND I'm an instant gratification junkie - when I get a new tool or toy, I want it NOW. I guess I just expect everyone else to be the same way. So I turn my orders around fast - usually in one business day for Ultimate mics, volume controls, repairs, mods. Wood mics take longer of course, but usually no more than a week.

SO - I'm glad you're happy. Thank you all for your business and your support. I deeply appreciate it.

Finally, if you don't know what the Ultimate Series mics are about, you can read all about them here.
