I agree 100% with Ron. They are all different.

The other day I got a Made in Mexico CM element. It has a huge tone and amazing bottom end and is a lot better than some of my made in USA ones. Which I honestly didn't expect it to be.

You might want to watch this guy:

I bought this http://cgi.ebay.at/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330371174673 from him and it's killer. Looks like something you would love ... 1940s JT-30 with 1956 Shure CM element, completely restored and nicely painted. He is offering great stuff at a fair price. I think you would have to expand your budget to get what you want tho ...

I sent a late 70,s early 80,s GB to D.Gruenling to mod for me some years back with a Mexican CM in it.Mod consisted of removing crappy spring cable replaced with a screw on con.plus volume pot.It is my main and fav. mic compared to my astatic w/black label,my Crystal balls with a 151,or any of my other 3 US made white labels.Bottom line, take a chance on one of the early mexicans. I know alot may have to do with what your sound preference may be,but this particular element is Fat.As Gump said "You Never Know What You Gonna Get"
