Hi Bro's we aint got much in the way of custom Harmonica amps to choose from Down Under infact nothing zip zero,,so i got a USA Fender BJ cheap from a Bro AUS-$500..have done mods i thought were most important to start with..Replaced the 12"Speaker fitted a 35watt 10" Celestion Green Back,,the Transformers had to B replace from 120 volt over to 240 volts anyway so i replaced Both with Mercury Magnetics Transformers,,fitted a ruby tube reverb tank..asking Q&A's in another thread recommended Tube swaps for my amp is 12AY7 and 5751..what combos do you use what tube to put where..ie 12AY7 in V1,,5751 in V2 or other combos what works best for your amp,,my next major upgrade is Building a Solid wood cab don't want to use Pine,,do i use a Hardwood or a semi Hardwood to bulid a cab Im thinking Tasmainian Oak it's semi Hard wood,,any suggestions would be most welcome

This was a good, and brief, article on the subject. The thickness makes a big difference in the resonance, as does the wood. My KJL has a 3/4" Birch ply cabinet with one 12"...the sucker also weighs 60 lbs! I want to research this more as well, as I want to build an extension cab for a Epi Valve Jr. that will get the optimum sound from whatever speakers i stick in it without breaking my back. ----------

You pretty well built another amp there Dog!! Next time just scratch build and let me know how it turns out!

Hi TDG,Tanks 4 the info will check it out..HI BLD46 yeh mate prety well the only original parts are the cercuit board & cab,,my Bro did the transformer swap 4 me has scatch built a fender champ not from a kit either strait from the schematics chart & he's an electronics engineer & fantastic lead guitarist,,He's talking about building a 1-watt Bassman i'll let you know if it happens

Opps Todd i forgot to say mate check out Mercury magnetics web site www.mercurymagnetics.com,,they have a upgrade kit for the Epiphone VJ.. & Fender Champion 600.. i see many Bothers from MBH have these amps it's worth a look,,they have upgrade transformers for all the big name Amps..evan got upgrades 4 Fender Bassmans & such..
