Harmonica instrumental: ”My Babe” (Little Walter) Am I the first one playing this as instrumental version? I greatly appreciate all the comments made on this. Anyway this is better with a harmonica than if I sing, says my mother, Maraboy Motherson
The harmonica playing the vocal line is not bad. It's that solo in the middle that needs a bit o' work.
Mostly, it's all about THE TIME. You get a bit slippery with it. Try slowing down the backing track and attach your solo ideas to the tempo, locking in like a drummer. Once you do this, perhaps you can "loosen up" a bit and make it flow more naturally. ---------- The Iceman
If u learn to throw "syncapated back beats" in with and or without tongue blocking it will help yr playing immensely SRV had them wired on guitar -its the quick beat in between lick notes -its the little upstrock he does in pride n joy between each note
For Blues harp: check out about 1:10 or so for "slow syncopating back beats"--he usually draws in quick on say holes 23 in between each note

What Iceman said. I'd just go back and re-listen to what Walter played, and work on the note-for-note solo. Once you get the note sequence right, then slow down and work on playing each individual note until it sounds the way you want it to sound (getting the soul, the bend, the blue quality you want from each individual note, so the solo has feeling and is not just a note medley or melody). ---------- BnT
