So I popped into the local music shop to see what they had in the way of harmonicas. I've got all Suzukis, just because, but all they had were Hohners. They had Special 20s, Blues Harps and a single 150th Anniversary Standard.

I popped the 150th open and gave it a look -- Screws (not nails), clear acrylic comb (not wood), and replaceable MS reed plates. Welp, I'd always wanted to try an MB, but didn't want to hassle with the wooden comb, nails and 3-out-of-10 odds to get a 'good one', or pay up for a Deluxe or Crossover just to avoid those shortcomings. But with the way this is setup, and a price of $39 I figured I'd give it a shot.

Well, I gotta say this thing plays nice. Not a problem reed in the lot. I'm sure it could be improved, but this novice is just fine with how it plays right now. It's a decent harp at a decent price, and I'm pretty pleased I took the plunge.

Anybody have any experience or commentary on this harp?

It comes in plain, chrome and gold plated.

And here is the Hohner site for the Google averse, straight to the harp page:

Its my favorite harp. sounds great. I don't know why its just an MS harp. I know everybody says comb material doesn't make much of a difference but In this case......well, I think that because the plastic comb is solid rather than hollow it projects much better than my wood combed MS harps.

Yep -- that's it. But mine doesn't glow like yours, Stickman :^)

Jon -- yep, key of C. I think that's all they made, but the plates are the MS and it could be changed I suppose.

The Gold and Chrome versions have Meisterclass-type covers, and cost a whole lot more.
