Anyone know a good amp tech in Bradenton Florida? I’ve got a sick Premier Twin 8.

I personally don't know of any but with ANY vintage amp, make damned sure you take it to someone who specializes in vintage amps and tho it may cost more, at least the right stuff gets done and if it's one who doesn't, you can and will run into major problems.

What BBQ Bob said.

Antiques are a whole other ball of wax. If you want reliability you'll eventually have to take it to someone who knows what they're doing. Otherwise you'll find yourself in an endless repair loop.

I recommend Dave at The Harp Mic Shop in Portland, OR. He did an excellent job on my 59 T8. When all was said and done I had a sweet amp and copies of the before & after schematics.

He also added a marked up drawing with a mod for the tremolo that I eventually did and like.

This is Dave's site: https://www.theharpmicshop.com/

I'm lucky that a former guitar player of mine here in Boston is also a crack vintage amp and guitar tech and so I know he's gonna get the right stuff for the amp and won't do any unnecessary mods to it without my permission.

When I bought my real '59 Bassman in 1983, I had to sell a real '65 Super Reverb that I bought back in 1977 from a guy who actually bought that amp BRAND NEW back in 1965. I sold that Super Reverb to a guitar player that I had done some gigs with at the time (I wished I had the money at the time to be able to keep both of those amps).

Well, about 8 years later, that guitar player brought the amp to a tech in an instrument store that mainly dealt with brand new stuff and just needed some very minor tweaks, but unfortunately, the tech used some really cheapo quality parts and did some mods on it without his permission and that guitar player was forced to spend considerably more money with a very reputable vintage amp tech to correct every single screw up and the total cost of doing all this was more than the price that I sold the amp to him for. Unfortunately, he had to learn this the hard way.

That right there is the very reason I tell people that if you've got a vintage amp of any kind, send it ONLY to a reputable amp tech that SPECIALIZES in vintage amps or the price cen be quite steep and things can go horribly wrong.

You could try sending an email to Brian Purdy at Harpgear.com and ask him. Pretty sure if there's anybody who can do it in Florida, he'll know of them.

Skip Simmons - http://www.skipsimmonsamps.com/ - (530)771-7345. There's a reason he's the go-to for Estrin, Wilson, Musselwhite, etc.
