I have an antique Hohner Accorda, but I wouldn't call myself a player. I just found a bargain I couldn't resist.

I bought one this fall Dave. I'm waiting for you to post another how-to video. Oh yeah, picked up a Hohner extended bass too.

Great!
MyVERYLONG, that's what I've got. Mine was from around the 1950s, belonged to Harmonica Rascal Ray Tankersley.

I've not been able to post videos in a long time as soon as I do, I'm gonna post several. I've already broken a tooth with the 48 chord. I presume that gives me the right to post a vid;)

Rbeetsme, the draw 7th chords are your friends.

I just bought a 48 chord harp last weekend for 50 Euro from a guy who obviously didn't know much about harmonicas. There's no name or brand on it, but it plays good and seems to be amazingly good tuned. It'll need some cleaning. probably some gapping and (painfully) all new windsavers sooner or later, but well, i paid 50 Euro for it ;)
I also own a Swan Compact 48 chord harp, thats ready to play but i never ad time to really learn it so i'm impatiently awaiting your instructionals :)

Dave - do you know of any tips for dating these beasts? I picked mine up at a flea market and the seller didn't have any idea about it. I even told him I thought is was worth far more than the £75 I ended up paid for it, but he just shrugged and let me take it. I have no idea of the age of mine, but judging from the cardboard box (around the wooden case) it looks earlier than 60s.

Verylong,
You could try asking that on the Chord Board...there's folks there who could probably tell you better than I.

Wally Peterman told me once about the chords themselves, there is a new system and an old. I don't know what the old is. The new one, which dates I think after the 1950s, goes one, two, three, etc. sharps to the left, one, two, three flats to the left.
As in F and C are in the center, to the right it's G, D, A,E, B, going left it's Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb.

They really aren't as hard to learn to play as people think... You just gotta start. Most songs, you'll only be on like three inches of the harmonica. From your I chord, the IV is always the adjacent left, the V chord is aalways the adjacent right. The 7th is always the draw on the adjacent left.
Your minor is right below, same configuration, except it's augmenteds and diminished on the draws down there.

The chord harmonica is such a versatile instrument. A shame it doesn't get versitiled more.

I don't know how old mine is either, bought from Sweden. Seems in good shape. The bass harp is pretty simple too once you get the hang of all blow notes.
