Blues Blaster is Hohners name....the shell is based on the original JT30.....the rest is junk. I put a CM in my blues blaster and think it sounds pretty good.

Jon...you can also buy the new JT30 re-issue from Roadhouse.I'm not sure if it has the same element as the Blues Blaster though

Jon,

The Blues Blaster was the brand name that Hohner gave their mic that was in reality made for them by Astatic. It was just a JT30 with a blue paint job and a Hohner badge. Nowadays all the Blues Blasters are made in China I believe and are no longer produced by Astatic at all.

All the JT30 shells are basically the same (with some very minor variations). The Blues Blaster is just a JT30 shell as is the CAD HM50.

The modern day Blues Blaster and Hohner Roadhouse both contain cheap far Eastern crystal elements which are far inferior in tone and output to the MC151 which was originally in the BB, HM50 and some JT30's.

I have a CAD SilverBullet that came with a MC151 and I also have a Blues Blaster that came with a 127 ceramic element.

Quite a few Blues Blasters had MC127 (ceramic elements) in them. The early ones though had the MC151 in.

After a certain point Astatic apparently broke the mould for the MC151 elements and then had to make them all in the MC127 moulds. Then they used to put little white stickers on them with MC151 printed on it to signify which element was in the mic, although the embossing on the element of course said MC127.
