Pat was not an overblow player. All of his cds are great...check out his stuff with Johnny Winter too. I think it was more of the triplets and phrasing that Jason worked his style from. ---------- Mike Fugazzi http://www.myspace.com/niterailband http://www.youtube.com/user/NiteRail http://www.twitter.com/NiteRail http://www.facebook.com/mike.fugazzi
I've bought Pat Ramsey's "It's about time" and I love the album. You can hear what jason took out of his playing and used, but there's much more than that. I like his flow.
Back in 1996 I went on the Ultimate Rhythm & Blues Cruise around the Carribean (James Harman, Koko Taylor, Jay Geils/Magic Dick, Taj Mahal etc etc) and I'm 99.9% sure that it was Pat Ramsey on board as one of the paying guests! His performances at the all night jams certainly were impressive.
I too found Pat Ramsey via Jason Ricci. This thread makes sense to me, I enjoy copying Ramsey's work...because I can...I do not know how to overblow ....
I have picked up a bagful of ideas and phrases just from one of Ramseys YouTube video's (Laconia Bike Festival, playing 'Too Many Drivers').
I do like his work, sadly I will never get to see him onstage....
What Micha said. Get the "It's About Time" album on iTunes. The song "Broken Hearted" has everything you need to know about blues harp right in the intro.
I love Pat Ramsey , one of my favorite harp player. Not long time ago I made a tab and backing track ,inspired ( heavily) by Pat Ramsey's version of "Walking' by myself"
