Jon,don't take this as a putdown, but you'll save a lot of money and frustration if you just spend your time working on your tone. I'm not afraid to walk into any open stage with just my harps and play through the P.A. A good harp amp isn't a panacea. When you have good tone,it's just icing on the cake.
the mics an wut not is for my own satisfaction. i like collecting them. most of the time when i go to jam at my friends studio i dont bring my mic/pedals/amp etc... i just play through what ever mic he has through a pevey bass amp. ----------

ya 5 mics an i have two others. thanks ryan. i thought i had some decent acoustic tone too. i guess not. it got a little thin around 1min. into that video but that is the first time a picked up a harp in almost a month. ----------
OK That wasn't bad,but it wasn't great. I'll shut up now. We all have our own journey in our own way.Just thought I'd save you a trip up a dead end side road, but I guess that's how we learn.
GAS - Love it -Jon don't worry Ive had the same "addiction"- amps / mics / harps you name it.....now I'm sending my old shure to Greg to get "Ulitmized" Will it never end ? ---------- Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. jon, collect all the mics you can afford because they are only going to go up in value. Mics I bought a few years ago already sell for more than double what I paid. And no one with any experience buying mics can deny that. Astatics, Shure and Electro-Voice. :)

Here is what I don't get about tone. People look for the best element for tone and once they find it, they then bury it under all kinds of special effects. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing, I'm just and acoustic guy and don't get it. In other words, I'd love to hear what that crystal mic sounds like rather than all the pedals that are hooked up to it. ---------- The Art Teacher Formally Known As scstrickland

I had to have a good CM CR and Crystal. I just had to know. And yes they were expensive and no im not rich. But i threw myself into this all the way and im in my fifties now so screw it. I dont regret it. Each has a voice of its own with the amps i use. Some sound better on particular song lists.Deep down i know all of this is silly to an extent but it keeps me from worse habits i know im capable of.
Jon, you are doing great. You'll become a very accomplished amped player because you are working on amp/mic technique from the beginning. I do the same thing with my students.
Jon - my 664 came yesterday.....it freakin weighs a ton. It needs some work, the grill is gone and I want to have it chopped. It cleaned up great and sounds pretty damn good. The father of the guy I bought it from interviewed Mohammad Ali with it years ago at a radio station in PA where he worked. So it has smoe history to it as well. ---------- Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn.
