How far would you say is it possible to tune a harp up? I am thinking about getting me a Seydel Solist Pro 12 and tune it up a half step to avoid the 40 extra Euros for the custom configuration. Should a half step on all reeds work or is it more likely that I ruin the harp? I am pretty confident with tuning, just havent retuned a whole harp yet.

Tuning up a half step should work fine, but it'll be a LOT of work. Will be 40 hard earned Euros unless you are doing this work quite regular. Practice on an old harp first. Take into account, that you cannot check the pitch of a reed with covers off. You don't need to fully assemble the cover plates with screws, but to test the actual tuning of a reed you at least need to put them on and hold them with your fingers in place.
Read about tuning theory first to make sure you get the temperament you want. Make sure all octaves are beatless.
What Key dou you want for your Harp? Did you request if they can do it for less?

I'm a bit reluctant to do it anyway ... but I like to save a penny or two whenever possible (which I spend on more gear anyway)

I like the idea of playing that typical chromatic 3rd position blues stuff in D and Eb on a diatonic style harp, tuned like a chromatic. They do offer the Solist Pro 12 tuned like that in the key of C but we play some songs in Eb as well which is usually played on a chrom with the button pushed in all the time. I would need a Db tuned harp for that.

How about just buying a Chrometta 12 for that purpose? 66 Euro on Harponline and really nice if you don't want to make use of the loud slide anyway...

Oh, and you don't get that typical chrome sound out of a Solist Pro! Needs to be a real chrome for that.

I thought the Chrometta 12 was a regular chromatic. The whole idea behind it is to have a harp that's tuned like a chromatic but plays, feels and sounds like a diatonic with full bending capabilities.

There is also a special version of the Marine Band 364 available but I don't like the 364 shape and feel at all.
