Hi folks,

So the thing about London is that there's loads of live music going on (at least, in comparison to the sleepy Sub-Saharan coastal town whence I came) but no time to watch it all. As a kind of side dish to my regular schtick at The Harp Surgery, I'd like to start a YouTube channel that gives a taste of the local harp scene.

Of course, many local artists have their own channels or are featured on fans' channels, but the quality is sometimes a bit dodgy (MHB user OxHarp is an outstanding exception to this) and I figure this could be a useful service to the community.

The only thing is, I need help. I'd like at least one other person to undertake this with me, preferably someone with their own camera: kind of like the official Harp Surgery videographer. Someone to be the OxHarp of London. In terms of entrance fees to gigs and getting decent access to the stage, we can cultivate relationships with artists and organisers (and build on HS's existing relationships), so it's a decent opportunity for someone who's too skint to the gigs on a regular basis.

Consider this position open for applications. If you know anyone who'd be keen/suitable for the role, pass this on to them. Get in touch with me on the board or drop me a line at muz.hunter[at]gmail[dot]com

Cheers,

Murray

Thanks for the plug guys.

Muz, I would be interested in giving you some support in this area as thats kind of how i started out.

My vids have been a constant source of learning for me, from playing to stagecraft and has been a way of me giving something back.

I have met, spoken and become friends with many Harp players since I started and think its a great way to see and learn.

I know I live in Oxford but I get to London quite often and I am hoping to get out further a field this year.

Let me know what you have in mind?

I have a busy life etc but I am always up for a gig.

As a matter of common decency I always ask the artist for permission to record first and suggest I raise their profile by posting the vids on You Tube.
I have been refused only once in all the times I have been recording and have had one vid taken down by YT for an infringement of somekind.

Cheers

Russ
