I was taking a look around the Rockin Rons site and I noticed they carried the Souls Voice. When I clicked on the Souls Voice link I saw that they had the normal Souls Voice and they also had a valved version(I assume it's half valved). Before this Suzuki was the only manufacturer to produce a half valved diatonic (the valved promaster). The valved SV is only about $4 cheaper than Suzuki valved promaster, but I'd be interested to know how they compare. Has anyone here tried this valved Souls Voice yet? If so, have you also tried the valved promaster, and how do the two compare? Also, how long has this valved SV been available?

Not 100% sure, but I think That Souls Voice use Suzuki reeds. That would mean that the reeds here are no other than Promaster valved reeds.

The Delta Frost was originally made by Suzuki but I think it is now produced by a different company, but I know for a fact it is not Seydel. Seydel uses a long slot reed and the tuning is a comprimise tuning that is essentially close to 19LJI, and the DF's are tuned to ET. If you have an older DF, you can tell it's made by suzuki because the reeds, like all Suzuki's are spot welded rather than riveted. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

Actually, Seydel offers half-valved versions of ALL of the diatonics that they make, but they are an extra $12. I think the Souls Voice valved is the way to go for sure.
